Back II Blue

Born from the ocean. Built for change. Worn with purpose.

The world moves fast, and it rewards us for forgetting each other — for mistaking harshness for strength, for believing that one of us could ever matter more than another. Back II Blue is a reminder to slow down. To hold onto what connects us: one person to another, and all of us to the animal, the mountain, and the sea.

It's more than performance wear — it's purpose wear.

Crafted with Tanboocel® bamboo and PYRATEX® Lyocell — thoughtfully sourced, biobased fabrics — our tees, hoodies, leggings, and dresses are made to move with you, and to move you toward something greater.

We support the mission of Coral Gardeners to save coral reefs. Every purchase of $100 or more includes a coral adoption in your name — a real coral, grown in their nursery in French Polynesia, [Learn more about our coral program →]

You don't have to be an expert to belong here — you just have to care. About the water. About each other. About doing one thing a little more thoughtfully than you did before. That's this community: people paying closer attention, in ways big and small.

So let's return — to purpose, to connection, to blue.

What We're Made of Matters

WHAT WE'RE MADE OF MATTERS

Every fiber here was chosen for a reason — how it feels, how it performs, and what it costs the planet to make it. We're not going to pretend the process is impact-free.

Bamboo: luxuriously soft without the need for chemical softeners
Lyocell: soft, breathable, plant-based fiber
Recycled Elastane: stretch made from recycled material
(If not recycled, elastane is less than 5% per garment)

Designed for comfort, built for performance.

FOUNDER OF BACK II BLUE

MEET MATTY GONZALEZ

My relationship with the ocean started before I could really explain it — something that took hold early and never let go. I became a maritime engineer, then a yachtsman, and over the years I've crossed nearly every ocean there is, as far north as Greenland and as far south as Antarctica. I've learned the most about myself when I was surrounded by the least — standing at a railing at sunset with nothing around me but water, wind, and the hum of an engine below deck.

Somewhere in those years at sea, I found something else I loved. On long charters, we'd dress up for themed nights — team shirts, matching gear, inside jokes turned into logos. I started designing pieces for my crew because I wanted them to feel like they belonged to something. Watching people light up over something I'd made taught me that clothing someone is a way of caring for them.

That belief is the reason Back 2 Blue exists. The world moves fast, and it's easy to forget that you matter — that your actions matter. Back 2 Blue is my way of saying: don't forget it. We're tied to each other the same way we're tied to the ocean and everything living in it.

This is something I get to build with intention, and one day pass on — a small, lasting way of protecting what's easy to overlook, in the ocean and in each other.

That belief is still what every piece we make is built on — clothing worth trusting, made with care, for people who care about the same things we do.
